My House: The Big Board

We used to have a cute little dry erase board in our kitchen. It became apparent very quickly that it was too small.

My husband purchased a large piece of tile board at the local home improvement store. Here are all the advantages of this wonderful organizing tool.

  • Tile board is very inexpensive compared to dry erase board, and it works with dry erase markers.
  • We used a piece large enough to go from ceiling to floor so it holds lots of vital household information.
  • It is easily accessible to each family member no matter how tall.
  • We keep a rotating 2-week schedule on the board at all times.
  • Each person has a color to write their activities on the board.
  • Emergency numbers are written across the top (That's why it's not in view in the photo--to not divulge our friends' numbers!)
  • We write our grocery list on the board.
  • We also write quotes along the left hand side. We enjoy quotes from family, friends, movies and books. When we tire of the current list, we erase and start again.
  • The board cleans easily with paper towel and glass cleaner.
  • Markers and eraser sit in a basket, hanging from an S-hook on the end of the shelves.

If you have big ideas which have worked well as a message center in your home, let me know about it.
