I haven't written in a while. Transition will do that to a girl.
After a long look at "where we're headed," my husband and I have decided it's time for real change. We've grown tired of debt. So we're taking action, determined to kill the debt dragon.
So, I have taken a full-time administrative position with a great company. Full-time work sure changes the hours for organizing! So I'm in the middle of transition, shifting from a 20-30 hour week doing physical labor, to 40 hours of working at a computer. Different focus, different kind of work, and I'm the employee instead of the business owner.
But the change fits our goals. It spares me some of the labor that was beginning to wear on my joints. But I'm not at home as much, so now I'm not there to cook dinners, field the phone calls from my youngest, or enjoy spontaneous coffee dates with my sweetie.
Transition is an interesting place to be. New and old mix together. Celebration, excitement, loss and uncertainty run together into a jumble of wondering if you've done the right thing, and being so glad you made the change.
Am I still an organizer? You bet. Just shifted my time to weekends. I'm still working on my book and developing the companion seminar. What I've learned in the past week is this: my job didn't really change. I'm still working with the same mission--changing people's lives. I still love helping people get unstuck, making their lives better. And I'm determined to change the lives of my family as well.
Here's to new beginnings.
